As Arizona temperatures rise, we remain committed to advancing health through research, education, and service. This month, we’re highlighting two ongoing studies and sharing practical tips for staying safe and healthy in the summer heat.
Summer Health Tip – Stay Ahead of the Heat:
With triple-digit temperatures common throughout July, it's important to monitor for signs of heat-related illness such as dizziness, excessive sweating, and fatigue. Stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activities during peak hours, and prioritize your health—especially if managing a chronic condition.
A Safe & Healthy Fourth of July:
As we celebrate Independence Day, we encourage safe enjoyment of holiday festivities. Stay mindful of firework safety, sun exposure, and alcohol intake, particularly for individuals managing musculoskeletal pain or other chronic health issues.
☀ July is UV Safety Month:
UV Safety Month is a timely reminder of the long-term health risks associated with excessive sun exposure. Ultraviolet rays can contribute to premature aging, immune suppression, and skin cancers. Encourage the use of broad-spectrum sunscreen, protective clothing, and routine skin checks to support preventive health in your community.
