Adhesive Capsulitis
What is Adhesive Capsulitis?:
Adhesive Capsulitis, also called frozen shoulder, causes pain and stiffness in the shoulder. Over time, the shoulder becomes very hard to move. In frozen shoulder, the shoulder capsule thickens and becomes stiff and tight. Thick bands of tissue, called adhesions, develop. In many cases, there is less synovial fluid in the joint. The hallmark signs of this condition are severe pain and being unable to move your shoulder, either on your own or with the help of someone else.

Bunion Removal
What is a Bunion Removal?:
A bunion is a bony bump that forms on the joint at the base of your big toe. It occurs when some of the bones in the front part of your foot move out of place. Bunion removal is a surgical procedure that corrects a deformed area of the foot near the big toe. Bunion removal is sometimes called a bunionectomy. When you have your bunion removed as part of the study, the surgery is completed by board-certified podiatrist. The research we conduct typically involves testing new medications during or after your bunion removal. The studies typically require you stay with us in our facility for a certain number of days after your surgery in order to collect important data regarding the new medication.

Diabetic Neuropathy
What is a Diabetic Neuropathy?:
Diabetic neuropathy is a type of nerve damage that can occur if you have diabetes. High blood sugar (glucose) can injure nerves throughout your body. Diabetic neuropathy most often damages nerves in your legs and feet. Symptoms can range from pain and numbness in your feet to problems with the functions of your internal organs, such as your heart and bladder.

Hernia Repair
What is an Inguinal Hernia?
An Inguinal Hernia occurs when internal tissues, such as part of the intestine, protrude through a weak spot in the abdominal muscles. The resulting bulge can be painful, especially when you cough, bend over or lift a heavy object. Treatment may not be necessary. If the hernia is growing or painful, surgery can repair it.

Lumbar Radiculopathy
What is a Lumbar Radiculopathy?:
Lumbar radiculopathy, also known as sciatica, refers to disease involving the spinal nerve root of the lower back. This can manifest as pain, numbness, or weakness of the buttock and leg. Lumbar radiculopathy is typically caused by a compression of one or more of the spinal nerves in the lower back.

What is Menopause?
Women may have different signs or symptoms at menopause. That’s because estrogen is used by many parts of your body. As you have less estrogen, you could have various symptoms. Some of the most common symptoms include: Hot flashes, Chills, Night sweats, Sleep problems, Mood changes, Weight gain and slowed metabolism.

Migraine
What is a Migraine?
Migraines are a recurring type of headache. They cause moderate to severe pain that is throbbing or pulsing. The pain is often on one side of your head. You may also have other symptoms, such as nausea, weakness, and visual changes. You may be sensitive to light and sound. Cluster migraines often present as pain in and around one of the eyes. Tension Migraines often present as pain that is like a tight band squeezing the top of the head.

Osteoarthritis of the knee
What is Osteoarthritis of the Knee?:
In osteoarthritis of the knee, the cartilage in the knee joint gradually wears away. As the cartilage wears away, it becomes frayed and rough, and the protective space between the bones decreases. This can result in bone rubbing on bone, and cause the growth painful bone spurs.

Temporomandibular Disorders
What Is Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD)?
Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD) are medical conditions involving the temporomandibular joint (the joint connecting your jawbone to your skull) and surrounding muscles and tissues. Patients with TMD may have pain, reduced movement of the jaw, and/or clicking in the joint during motion.

Tummy Tuck
What is a Tummy Tuck?
A tummy tuck, also known as abdominoplasty, is a cosmetic surgical procedure to improve the appearance of the abdomen. A tummy tuck removes excess fat and skin and could include the restoration of weakened muscles to create a smoother, firmer abdominal profile. When you have a tummy tuck as part of the study, you will complete a consultation with board-certified plastic surgeon and if you qualify for the study they will perform your surgery. The research we conduct typically involves testing new medications during or after your tummy tuck. The studies typically require you stay with us in our facility for a certain number of days after your surgery in order to collect important data regarding the new medication. Some studies may only allow for a modified surgical procedure called a “mini” tummy tuck, which similar procedure involving a smaller area of the abdomen.
