Joseph Gimbel, MD

Chief Medical Director, Orthopaedic Surgeon

Joseph S. Gimbel, MD, attended Duke University and the University of Maryland, graduating with a bachelor’s degree. He received his medical degree from the University of Maryland. He completed his internship in general surgery at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore and his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Illinois and Rush Presbyterian, St. Luke’s Hospital in Chicago. He was chosen for a fellowship at the Rheumatism Foundation Hospital in Heinola, Finland, one of the world’s largest hospitals focusing almost exclusively on the surgical/medical treatment of patients with rheumatoid arthritis. He was the founder of the Industrial Medical Institute and Sports Medicine Institute. Dr. Gimbel has an additional interest and experience in treating back pain, sports injuries, osteoarthrits, diabetic neuropathy pain, migraines, and fibromyalgia. He previously served as Chief of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the Phoenix Indian Hospital.

 

As Medical Director of Arizona Research Center since 1997, Dr. Gimbel has been involved in all aspects of the clinical trial process. He has participated in close to 1000 clinical trials and authored over 80 articles in peer reviewed journals. He is on the advisory panel of multiple pharmaceutical companies.

 

Dr. Gimbel is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is currently a practicing orthopedic surgeon at Phoenix Orthopedic Surgeons. Additional interests include Nanotechnology and green energy.
